Sarah, congratulations on your winning image - Medusa
Sarah says:
I actually had the inspiration to do the Medusa when reading a Marian Keyes novel! One of the characters had gone to view Caravaggio’s Medusa at the Uffizi Museum in Florence. I wanted to do my own version and her story is still relevant to women today.
Medusa was stalked and raped by Poseidon and then blamed for it, and cursed by Athena with a monstrous appearance, and anyone she looked at was turned to stone. She was banished and lived a lonely life in solitude. Perseus killed and beheaded her.
I’m actually terrified of snakes so finding a snake breeder and getting so close to the snakes to photograph them was a huge challenge for me!

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Junior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Website for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.

Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Junior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
