Picture of the Month

Gerhardt Nieuwoudt - RuwanniGerhardt Nieuwoudt - Ruwanni

Gerhard Neuwoudt wrote the following about this image: Picture of my Daughter, Ruwanni. Took the image in the pool at our house. My wife did the make-up. Canon 50D, 24-105mm lens, Iso 100, F8, Ss200, studio lights.

This image shows lots of care was taken to ensure quality and balance. The model is beautifully made up, the lighting is very gentle and calmness in the water compliments the scene. What a fantastic image.

Club Image of the Month

Pieter Mare - More than a WarningPieter Mare - More than a Warning

The Club winning image for January (which included also images from Clubs that met in December), was won by Knysna Photographic Society – author – Pieter Mare.   His image "More than a warning", I think  you will agree it is a stunning image.

Dr Pieter Mare had the following to say about his image: The image were taken at the lammergeyer hide in the Drakensberg April 2010.
I used a 300mm f2.8 lens with a1.4x converter. Captured at 600mm focal length, 1/1000 of a second at f5.6.
There was a lot of cloud cover that day but luckily when those two latecomers started to argue over the last piece of meat the sun just broke through for a few minutes.

Please speak to your club chairman on how to enter your club in this competition.

Newsflash

The spirit of Ubuntu - an insight from the wisdom of the Bantu peoples of Africa.   This word is used all over the world and is very hard to translate but has been interpreted in many other languages and is quoted in many different situations and circumstances - "a person depends on other persons to be a person" - very powerful and meaningful.

Ubuntu, to really see other people is to welcome the gifts only they can bring, their talents, intelligence, experiences, wisdom, and differences of perspective.

Africa should be very proud of Ubuntu and the message it portrays.   In our photography environments let us use the hand of Ubuntu to all and through it all we shall all grow in this wonderful hobby.

The start of a good year is extended to all our members through Ubuntu.
