Garden Route

Over the weekend of 6th to 8th of January the club arranged an AV workshop conducted by Willem Oets at one of the members' houses. The course attendees all brought along previous and recent AVs which were discussed on the Friday. A model and landscape shoot was arranged on the Saturday from which the course participants had to produce an AV for discussion on Sunday morning. All the course attendees managed to create an AV for the Sunday morning and we all learnt a great deal about AV construction and presentation from Willem. Thanks must be extended to Schalk and Daleen Engelbrecht for organising and hosting this workshop.

Kleinmond, Western Cape

Kleinmond Kiekieklub's first AV evening on 17 November 2016, was a great success! One hundred and twenty available tickets were all snapped up in advance. People came from the surrounding villages. The audience responded with great appreciation for each presentation. For some, the presentations literally and figuratively gave them a new look on life. The program was a good mix of presentations by our own members, photographers of Hermanus and international photographers. The variety of styles and techniques have allowed for a very informative evening for those of us entering this new aspect of photography. We expect to have even more local contributions next time. The enthusiasm was remarkable. Thanks to the management, and especially Gerhard van Helsdingen, for the excellent organization. May it be the first of many such meetings.

Port Elizabeth Camera Club

The PECC Christmas Cheer was well-received, with approximately thirty people attending. Members had great joy producing and showcasing their AVs.

PECC is one of the judging stations for the 3-2-1, more information can be found at www.challenge321.org. Other host countries are Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Netherlands. Thus far 9 entries were received, unfortunately none from South Africa.

The planning for the next AV convention in 2018 is the next big event, in conjunction with Garden Route. We are planning on inviting an International speaker. A suitable venue will be decided on soon.

The PECC International AV Salon will take place early in 2018, we hope to have another bumper entry.
