Newsflash

Well 2010 is a big year for South Africa and hopefully it will bring many new aspects to our beautiful country.

As photographers hopefully there will also be plenty opportunities to enjoy and keep our creative juices flowing.

If we look carefully we can find things of beauty or things of interest almost anywhere. The camera assists us in this search by demanding that we look closely at what is in front of our eyes, whether it is a scenic landscape or an interesting detail on a rusty car or building.

When looking at a subject we are looking with our eyes but interpreting what we see in the light of our thoughts, comparing it to other times and other subjects and even triggering memories of other things and events which might have been under different circumstances. The images represent our truths, our musings, our reactions and our speculations on the subject matter. Our fellow photographers standing beside us observing the same scene may experience a different truth based on a different range of experiences and associations. Isn’t that what makes photography so exciting and challenging. Isn’t that what makes our relationships with our fellow photographers so special. We must cherish one another, believe in one another and continue to share with one another.

PSSA continues to embrace all of the above and wishes all its members very happy, creative and challenging shooting for 2010. May it bring to all of us the successes and challenges that we are seeking in our photography.

Continue to support and enter our salons, our competitions and to support our Clubs in every way possible.

Compliments to all for 2010.
